Choosing between concrete and asphalt comes down to budget, climate, and how much maintenance you want to deal with. In the Dallas–Fort Worth area, both perform well, but each has trade-offs worth knowing before you commit.
Concrete costs more up front but lasts 30+ years with little maintenance. It stays cooler underfoot, resists oil stains when sealed, and can be stamped or colored for curb appeal. The downside: repairs are harder to blend, and it can crack if the base isn't prepped right — which is exactly why base prep is where we never cut corners.
Asphalt is cheaper to install and quick to lay down — often same-day. It flexes with temperature swings and is easy to patch. The trade-off is maintenance: plan on seal coating every 2–3 years to keep it from drying out and cracking under the Texas sun.
